Navision 5 how to restore campany to same database

Hi,

I have a backup of company A in database A. Now I want to restore this backup of company A in database A as Company B. How can I do this? When I try to restore, it says that the company already exists.

    Hi

    How you would handle this is to rename the company in the database first

    So:

    Backup company A

    Rename Company A in the database to B

    Restore the Backup leaving you with an A & B

    Hope this makes sense

    Thanks but I cannot rename A as it is a system that has many users connected to it and is our main company.  Is there any other way?

    Yes,

    Create a copy of the live database (A test system) - there will be one company in the system = A

    Rename the company in the test system from A to B

    Backup B and restore it into the Live

    I would suggest lots of testing on test databases before you restore anything into live, and it would be a good idea to do the restore after hours when there isnt a big user load as the creation of the new company makes database structural changes
