Setting up Reporting services with AX 2009

ReportReport

Hi,

I am setting up reporting services with AX 2009 and have come pretty far. I have the EP site up and running and the reporting tools also. I have created a Dynamics AX Reporting Project and created a report that lists data from an AX query. That part works fine.

When I want to link in the report in EP I first have to deploy my reports (the report library) to the reporting server. That procedure somehow fails and I cant get it to work. I manage to save my report project (from Visual Studio) to the AOD and it end up in the AOT under the Report Libraries node. Fine!

However, when I try to deploy the report library to the Report Server, that fails. I have tried to do it from both the stand alone program Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 Reports Deployment and from Visual Studio, by right clicking the project and hit Deploy.

The error message says "Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Dynamics.AX.Fim.PaymentService, Version=5.0.0.0, Culture=neutral.......". I guess I have missed some part of the installation. I have tried reinstalling the reporting extensions and followed every step for the setup of it, but I can´t get it to work.

Does anyone got the some problem or know what it could be?

For your info I am runnig AOS and the reporting server on one machine and the EP and reporting tools on another. The problem could maybe be some kind of limitation? I might need to have reporting services installed on the same server as EP?

Any help are much appreciated!

    Wehaa!

I got this to work finally, thanks to this blog post (http://msdynamicsax.wordpress.com/2008/08/15/make-the-role-centers-work-with-reporting-services/). He hinted about installing reporting services on the same machine as EP. And that actually worked. I still dont know what really caused the problem. But it works and that is the one thing I care about right now.

If you get stuck with the set up, post here and I´ll try to help.

Hello. I hope to get some advice since Im stuck with deploying reports. I have finally managed to install reporting services. Its a test setup on a single server. First I got a full logfile but googling on the subject I found a suggestion on copying axreports.exe from one folder to another. http://blogs.msdn.com/solutions/archive/2008/09/29/microsofty-dynamics-ax-2009-enterprise-portal-role-centers-deployment-tips-n-tricks-2.aspx .

After that the error was different:

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

    Hi DAB,

I dont recognize the error you are posting. But you are deploying the reports on the same machine that has reporting services, right? I also had a problem when trying to deploy the reports and it turned out to be just me trying to deploy the reports from another server...

Thanks for your reply. Yes it is on the same computer. Any clue on if it is a problem with the SQL or the IIS ?

Its an old test server so there are some residue left from other tests. Can Visual Studio 2005 be a problem ? I have installed the Visual C++ 2008 Redist. on top but maybe they collide in some way ?
