User Setup

I need to put restrictions on employees that are all Super users at this point.  This is new to me and I am not familiar with what exactly to do.  I know where to go in NAV 2013R just do not know how t make the changes.  for instance I don't need a sales person to have access to anything to do with the banking.  can someone please help and talk to me like I am a dummy with this as I feel I am at this point.  I tried doing a trial and error and ended up keeping the person I was working on from even getting into NAV.  Thanks in advance for the help and support.

    RE: User Setup

    Hi Friend ,

Seems like i got your issue ,

In Nav , We can control users by several level ,

1 - License Type (User Card)

    Full user(can have posting functions)

Limited User (Cant do "Post") - [you can use those licence like not allowed to post

    ......................................................................................................................................................................

But in your case  all are full users , so according to your requirement

you can use "Permission Sets" (Departments/Administration/IT Administration/General/Permission Sets)

NAV Already have several Permission sets by default

But i suggest u can create new Permission set and assign Permissions that what you need

    How to Do it....

you need to go through the relevent path what you need  and system will send error

"You dont have following Permission ..... Table Data ....... " like that

then assign those Permissions to your newly created Permission set

now your Permission set are ok

now assign those  Permission  set to relevant users on user card

then those users cant do anything that you dont assign

This is how to control user access on Microsoft Dynamics

Remember : if you assign new Permission  set , don't forget to assign following 2 Permission set with it

    ADCS ALL

    BASIC

Dear Please Varify the answer if you got helped to sort out the issue and also help to others

    RE: User Setup

You need to assign related permissions and then configure the profile. In Dynamics NAV permission will restrict the users from entering to the restricted areas (which does not allow in the permission set) while profile configuration will disable and hide the unwanted pages, and other UI elements from the users. To have a perfect user setup, you need to have both of these.

If you check on MSDN you will be able to find many useful tutorials on how to achieve this.

    RE: User Setup

    Hey Janet,

This is something which is related to Roles and Permission altogether. You need to look at the Permission sets available or to go with Creating new permission set.
