Currency Exchange Rate Service - The Service URL field must not be blank.

Posted on by 8

Hi All.

We recently upgraded from V14 to V23 Cloud, trying to set up our exchange rate service and getting an error saying the URL is blank when it isn't.

The Service URL field must not be blank.

AL call stack:
/Curr. Exch. Rate Update Setup/(Table 1650).VerifyServiceURL line 3 - Base Application by Microsoft
/Curr. Exch. Rate Update Setup/(Table 1650)./Enabled - OnValidate/(Trigger) line 8 - Base Application by Microsoft

I've seen a similar post on here from a year or so ago but didn't provide any answers.

Can anyone provide any advice?

Interesting...do you have the grammarly extension installed in chrome? There is an issue when trying to add a note to the notes factbox if a user has the grammarly extension installed, perhaps the same thing is happening here.

    Hi All,

I figured out the issue, I don't know exactly what was causing it, but it had something to do with my Google Chrome Profile.

If I was to say use Edge, or use a different profile in Google Chrome, or go Incognito in Chrome, then as soon as I put in the Service URL I was able to select the values from the filed mapping linked to the XML rates URL.

If I were to use my personal Google Chrome profile, even after clearing all my history and cookies it just displays the blank URL error every time.

Just wanted to let you all know this, just in case someone else has this issue.

    Regards
    Tommy

I tried on my work business central sandbox and on my personal trial business central subscription and I get the same issue.

Yes I can enable it without an error. What version/localization is your BC?

Valentin Castravet if you hit enable does it work? it's only when I hit enable I get the error.

I copied what you did and I still get the error, could this be a bug?

ah sorry that screenshot is from a few versions ago of BC, maybe around V20. I just tested it now in V23 and the Caption field doesn't change, I didn't realize Microsoft made this change. The Source fields need to be modified. You also need the 1 in the Default Value field that I have in the screenshot. And create a transformation rule as well from my post below. This is what I have, and when I click on Preview it works for me:

you could check out the appsource in BC. it has some free apps for setting up exchange rate. it's way easier than set up manually.

Must be something I am doing wrong. For the life of me, I can't get the Caption field to show the correct names as per your screenshot.

    Just shows "Field Mapping"

I've even tried in a different sandbox subscription and it's the same thing. It's a user error on my part for sure.
