Unsubscribes from Subscription Lists from a Subscription Centre

If a subscription Centre has multiple Subscription lists exposed on it and a Contact elects to 'unsubscribe' from a single subscription list  by un-ticking just one Subscription List (as opposed to 'do not email') is there a stock mechanism to manage this process? i.e. this contact unsubscribed from this subscription list, on this date etc.

Furthermore a user appears to be able to add the contact back to the Subscription List, despite the contact specifying that they did not want to receive the communications relating to this list?

Can someone please clarify if this is expected behaviour or misconfiguration? We would prefer to avoid plug-in development, but cannot find any documentation documenting the process.

Thanks

Pete

    Hi @Pete,

the 'do not email' checkbox behind the scenes updates the bulkemail flag on the contact, which drives whether the contact can be part of any customer journeys or not.

You can still add them to marketing lists, etc, but they wont receive any emails as they wont be able to go on a journey.

    Thanks,

    Hi Dilyana,

Thanks for your response but as mentioned above I am looking at  an individual subscription list level, not the 'do not email' functionality for all exposed subscription lists.

I believe I may have now found a solution using 'suppression lists' to register 'unsubscribes'.

    Thanks

It's by design, when they person unsubscribes, then they're removed from that list but they can be added back on.  I think that makes sense as a customer, as I might want to add myself back onto that list in the future.  If you're using that segment in conjunction with other segments, then, yes, you could use a suppression, also, you could use the subscription list as an intersect as well.
