Hi experts,
in a specific journal i use sequence number in the format OB-AP-####.
When i try to delete any line in this journal, it gives me error message :
Voucher Number of the line i try to delete does not match format VIL-14-###### !!!

How can i make the system ensure that voucher number match the format OB-AP-#### or not ?
What should i do to solve this error?
note (i tried to change manually the voucher number of the line i want to delete to the format VIL-14-###### and tried about 15 random number between VIL-14-000001 and VIL-14-999999 ,but every time system tells me that this number is already being used !!)

Thanks in advance for your help

    Hi Reham,

First of al note that answering questions on the forum is voluntary. As you asked a question during the weekend, not many members are active.

I would like to know which journal type you are using. Is this Daily journal, vendor invoice register, ...?

I can see you have at least two number sequences in you system. I will name them OB-AP and VIL.

Where is the OB-AP usually used? What journal does use the VIL number sequence? Was the line entered manually or did you use an import to get the lines in AX?

I have seen this problem where lines were imported in a journal. The journal table has the code of the number sequence as field in it. It is derived from the journal name. the field is not visible. Using a table browser you can change the value to the number sequence code OB-AP which enables you to delete the line again.

But I wonder why there is a number used from OB-AP and the system is complaining about VIL. Can you tell more about the journal types used?

I suggest you should consider cleaning up the unused number sequence

    Thanks all for your reply

i'll tell you the problem from start .

I have a journal in General Ledger .

All lines of this journal were imported from CSV file to the system.

The name of this journal is VEN-INV-LO (Vendor Invoice Local ).

All voucher number values ( in all lines ) have the format OB-AP-#### .

This voucher values were imported fron CSV file and validation is OK.

The customer now needs this journal to be deleted.

I checked the sequence number of this journal and found that it's EN-INV-LO which has format VIL-14-###### .

when i tried to delete any line in this journal , this error was given to me :"Voucher Number does not match format VIL-14-###### ".

So i created a sequence number with the format OB-AP-#### to be identical with voucher number values in journal lines .

After creating anew seq. number , then i assigned it to the journal VEN-INV-LO .

Then I tried to delete a line in the journal , but gave me the first error !!

note (i assigned the old seq number then i tried to change manually the voucher number of the line i want to delete to the format VIL-14-###### and tried about 15 random number between VIL-14-000001 and VIL-14-999999 ,but every time system tells me that this number is already being used !! and seq number can't be reversed)

How VEN-INV-LO journal still linked to old seq number ( VIL-14-###### format ) although i assigned the new seq num ( with format OB-AP-####) ?

I means before and after changing sequence number , the same error was given when deleting any line .Why?

Thanks all for your reply :)

I solved the problem and journal was deleted successfully.

1- I edit setting of  general journals to allow duplicates and unchecked continuous parameter

2- I edited Sequence number of the journal i want to delete and unchecked continuous parameter .

3- I created a job to modify voucher number in this journal to be in the format VIL-14-###### and then delete these lines.

4- The journals was deleted successfully after I had run the created job .

    Hi Reham,

I was already afraid you imported the lines. When you change the voucher series on the Journal name, it will not work. The field is copied to the journal header itself. From this header it is checking the vouchers. So try as mentioned in my previous reply to change the voucher serie via a table browser in the table LedgerJournalTable.

Another option is to temporaty change the format of the current voucher to meet the format OB-AP. Dont forget to change it back. Note that a number sequence cleanup will not help you here.

Hi. since this is an old post, i hope il be able to give another person facing the same issue a simpler solution. just take note of the last number in the new number sequence and then open table LEDGERJOURNALTABLE and then change the JOURNALNUM field to the last voucher number in the new series and also change the NUMBERSEQUENCETABLE value to the same as the one that is held by a new record.
