Manufacturing module question on allocation of product on the GL.

Hi

I have to sides to my business, one deals with production and other deals with distribution sales. I have some items that are used in distribution sales that also are used in production. Is there a way to account for this so it separates these costs between the different GL accounts (IE  production account and sales acocunt)?

Thanks

    Hi williamsjd24,

I had the same requirement at a customer - raw materials that are bought for production, but sometimes are sold repackaged to customers. They wanted separate cost accounts for goods purchased for resale, and raw materials. I solved this by extending the sales posting codeunit with code that did an additional cost posting between these two cost accounts on a sales posting. The posting setup had to be extended, though... wasn't too complicated, and it was Navision 2.60 business logic (yes, it is still in use). And no production module in use.

You can have this type of behaviour without a customization, probably. What you need is different inventory consumption accounts for production (business posting group empty, only product posting group is filled in) and for normal purchase/sales transactions. That way the goods used for production would show up on the separate inventory consumption account. Voila.

    with best regards

    Jens
