Which license is required to use the Microsoft Dynamics Field Service Mobile App?

Hi,

We are working on implementation of Microsoft Dynamics Field Service Mobile application, I would like to know that is there any license that we can use for technicians who will be using the field service mobile application for getting the work orders and managing their work? Or we have to buy the full field service license for technicians as well? Can't we use the team members license for that?

Because, if we are going to buy the field service license (which is $95/user per month) for each technician, it will be too costly.

Would appreciate any suggestion or advise in this regards.

    Hi Everyone,

    In our case there are almost 1200 resources(field technicians) who would access the mobile app. I was wondering if the power app per plan license work for them. Or may be, a team member license?

    If there is a field engineer who only wants to use the Mobile app, is the price for this user still £71?

    The answer above is still valid (don't shoot the messenger...). An internal mobile worker needs to have a FS App license (or the CE Plan license that included FS). For subcontractors there is a license with a reduced price, but I'm not sure that this license is available through all contract channels. Reach out to your Microsoft contacts or licensing specialist.

    Just to be fair - there is much more than just work order in the FS App. You can use pretty much all FS capabilities on the mobile device including comprehensive offline capabilities. If one only requires a subset, the price might be perceived as too high, but I guess you also don't want a la carte pricing with a price tag for each entity...

    Hi!

    Any final answer in this case? We will have the same question. 

    To pay a full license for a technician who only shall get work order to his phone is a way too costly. 

    Please give me a reply if it is any solution for this.

    Walleed, I totally understand what you mean, we have the same problem. It's horrible, especially when we're going against Sales Force that offers FS licences for technicians for cca 30$.

    We have already escalated the issue to MS but nothing happened.

    Eva, if that is the case. It's way to costly. Just imagine a technician who is just using the app to receive the work orders on mobile application and perform jobs assigned to him will have to get the same sort of license by paying full amount. And if a company is having 100+ technicians, they will have to get license for each one of them by paying $95/user per month. Pathetic!

    I hope that Microsoft will come up with some work around for that.

    Waleed, for now the answer is no - technician's licence costs just as much as regular user's (admin, scheduler ...) licence.

    Hopefully Microsoft will change this in a near future as we're losing many potential projects due to high licencing costs.

    There is a new Mobile Application for Field Service - Field Service Mobile (2020)
    This is a mobile app designed and optimized for technicians to view Field Service work orders, customer assets, accounts, and contacts. This new mobile app is built on Microsoft's Power Platform as a model-driven app and is customizable to your business needs with the same admin console as all Dynamics 365 business apps.
    Official documentation can be found in this link: docs.microsoft.com/.../mobile-2020-power-platform

    Field Service Mobile (2020) is available to be downloaded starting on May 1st for iOS and Android platforms. Windows will also host this application, however this is not available yet.

    A new Model Driven App is provisioned as part of Field Service solution version 8.8.22.

    Licenses: Field Service Mobile is part of the Field Service license.

    From the Licensing guide Page no 5
    "To license core Business Applications (Sales, Customer Service, Field Service, Project Service Automation, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, and Human Resources), customers may purchase as either a base or as an attach license(s).
    When purchasing multiple core Business Applications, the first or Base license must be the highest priced license for the user. Every full user must have a Base license.

    Users requiring multiple core Business Applications may purchase as many Attach SKUs as needed at a reduced price. Each Attach license can only be assigned to a user with a qualifying prerequisite Base license. Admins do not need any license to configure and administer applications. The admin will not be able to assign the Attach license to a user who does not have the required Base license"
