How to add existing main accounts to a chart of accounts?

I am new to D365, not new to DAX. I am trying to figure out if I can create a new Chart of Accounts and populate it with main accounts that are already created? All documentation I've seen so far shows how to create new main accounts when creating the COA, but this seems like a big waste of time when the main accounts I'd want to use are already created. I know I can assign the "shared" or "standard" COA to a legal entity but I know our COF is going to want to create a COA with just the accounts he wants used in by an entity so I'm to figure out how easy/difficult this will be.

Hello,

There is no magic button to copy accounts from one COA to another, but you can easily upload them to the new CAO by using the Excel add in. Copy the accounts from your old COA to the new one. Use this data entity below.

I just figured this out on my own. I created the new COA name, exported the main accounts to an Excel file, copied/created the accounts I wanted in my new COA, changed the COA column to my new COA, imported the Excel file, now my new COA has main accounts.

Hi,

You can open the main accounts form, which will provide you a list of the main accounts that are linked to the chart of accounts that is assigned to your company.

Adding an account there ensures that it is part of your chart of account and is probably the easiest way adding an account.

Except - of course - if you use the excel add in.

The response from Juan was the answer I was looking for and ended up figured out. The response from Ludwig works to enter main accounts on an individual basis.
