    Hi Andreas,

You cannot close an Inventory period when there are unapplied/open negative entries for a product in a period. If you are not sure what to do, your best bet is to roll the kink out from the historic period into the current period.

What I mean by that is, you unapply some positive entries and apply them to the oldest negative entries in historic periods, and repeat the process until you are left with the open negative entries in the current period. Depending on how much inventory you are carrying, you may still end up with a net positive on the open entries side in the current period.

Note that you can only apply negative entries to positive entries of the same Item at the same Location.

We had to help a customer with a similar issue in the past, and this was the recommended solution by Microsoft's NAV support escalation team (and was successfully implemented to resolve the problem and close those old inventory periods.

I hope this helps. If my response has answered your question, please verify by clicking Yes next to "Did this answer your question?"

    Dear Ansari,

I got an error when i tried to close the last inventory period, this error said that i have a negative inventory for one or more items, but it did not have within the certain period, what i have is the remaining Qty, stuck on the last entry of the period, which gave open as a true

    What to do here?

    Thnx

    hi

In Dynamics NAV, you cannot close an inventory period if there are item ledger entries with remaining quantity. However, if you have undo shipments and undo receipts that are not applied in the item ledger entry table, it is possible that the quantity on these entries is not correct and is causing the issue.

One solution could be to manually adjust the quantity in the item ledger entries to the correct quantity and then close the inventory period. To do this, you can create a journal entry to adjust the inventory and manually adjust the quantity in the item ledger entries using the Adjust Cost - Item Entries page.

Alternatively, you can try to find the root cause of the issue and correct it. For example, if undo shipments and undo receipts are causing the issue, you can try to investigate why these actions are being performed and if they are necessary. If they are not necessary, you can prevent them from being performed in the future.

It is also possible that there is a bug or issue with the inventory period closing functionality.
