Printer Redirection for Lanham Eship

Hello,

We are on NAV 501 and use Lanham Eship.  We have four shipping terminals on HPT5720 thin clients, two local and two remote, coming in through Citrix XenApp Fundamentals 2.0 on Server 2003 to handle the serially attached scales.  They are using Zebra LP2844 attached to LPT1 to print shipping labels and a network printer for printing documents.  One of the label printers at the remote location died and we replaced it with a USB label printer Zebra ZD420d.  While we can print test labels, we are unable to get NAV to print shipping labels. These printers have built-in print servers, we tried that route as well, unsuccessfully.

Has anyone had success getting USB or network label printers to work through Citrix to print Eship shipping labels?

Thanks,

Jeane Meade

I was able to get this to work setting the printer up as a network printer.  I first logged on locally to the thin client and deleted both printers.  Then I readded the ip label printer.  Tested locally, had user log into citrix and tested both the printer on the server and the session created printer.  Then was able to print out from NAV.  Then logged back onto the thin client and readded the document printer.  The label printer was still the default printer locally.  The user logged into citrix and changed the default printer to the document printer on the server.  Nav printed perfectly, no net use command needed.  Note to self - always set up network label printer first on thin clients coming through Citrix.

You need to use the "net use" command to redirect the LPT1 port to the USB port. You can google on how to do that.

    Try this..

Simply install your label printer using your "Add Printer" wizard. It will install the printer on a USB port.

Then goto the properties of the printer. Click the PORTS tab and check off "Enable Printer Pooling"

Then Check off LPT1. So now your printer has two ports checked. When it tries to print to LPT1 and gets no response it then prints to the USB Port.
