Create a canvas app embedded into D365 Form

Hi everyone,
 
I'd like to create a textbox with a label that show a countdown of characters remaining to fill the textbox.
My question is how to connect this canvas app to Dataverse.
I've found lots of tech support but it doesn't work....
 
Can anyone help me?
