where is define what field to show up instead of the recorded id in a view ?

Hi there !
I'm pretty sure my question is not 100% clear.

So let me take an example,

If I look in our system, at the case/incident table, I'll find many fields like "owner", "product", "creator" and so on. For this example, lets focus on "product". Within the Case entity reccords, the saved value for product is ProductID. Still on my screen I see the Product name (?).

My question is : where is this rule saved ? where can I find what is the flied to show up instead of the actual saved value for the "Product" records ?

I need this for BI purpose.

Using PowerBi, I don't even get the ProductID, I get the full record with all the fields and I would like to know wich one I should chose.

Can someone help me on this ?

thanks a lot in advance

    Thanks a lot.

I never thought to click on the entity name. I always unfolded it :)

    Hi fsim,

Based on your description, product field that in case view is one lookup field, which show Product name in the view.

The Lookup text always displays the Primary field of the related entity [i.e Name].

However,  Lookup columns show its guid and not name that we see in Dynamics 365 lookup In Power BI.

You can use LOOKUPVALUE function to show data from other table easily.

LOOKUPValue(Target table result field, Target table key, Source table matching key as on Target table)
