Security on Cancel work action

One of my users is allowed to view the work details on a sales order but I want to either prevent him from being able to view the "cancel work" button or just gray it out so he can't use it. I tried to go through record level security but I get knocked out of AX every time before I can even edit the query (also don't know why that keeps happening). How can I hide the button using the UI?

    Hi ChristinaH,

Do you want the user to stop being able to click the "cancel work" button in work or simply stop him from navigating from sales order to the related work?

I want him to stop being able to click "cancel work." If I am able to take just the "cancel work" button out of his view that would work as well.

    Hello ChristinaH,

From UI you can go to the form, right click, personalize, find the button you need and on the right side you will see checkbox Visible. Uncheck that and the button will disappear. The drawback from this is that the user can easily check the box back or reset the form after which he will see the button again. It is a user specific setting.

Thanks add. I know it can be done that way but like you said he can just change it back. Also I don't want to log in as him and personalize it but want to make it specific to the custom role. Any other suggestions?

    Hello ChristinaH,

From the UI I can't think of any other way. Maybe you already know it but you can also change the button's 'Needed permission' property to 'Manual' in the AOT. This means that only users with System administrator role or users that you manually give access to will be able to see the button. The way you give access is go to <your privilege>, Permissions, Forms, Add form, Add button, Set Effective Access (read, update etc.).

you can set 'Needed permission' property to 'Manual' in the AOT Manual as add said.

also, you can disable this button in init() method for this form based on the login user

Thank you for all the responses. I am working through the UI so this will have to be sent off to the Senior B.A. if it has to be done via the AOT.
