Mode of transport on PO line level

Hi!

On PO's it is not possible to set a mode of transportation other than on the header. Our customer frequently splits order lines and ships part of the order by air and the other part by ocean if orders starts piling up and delivery gets more urgent.

For the filtering and follow up on open order lines, the customer would need this possibility.

I found an empty field on PO > line details > Foreign trade > Transport that could be used.

I believe it is intended for intrastat reporting, but in our case this is not a required field in our reporting.

Question:

1. Does anybody know the reason for the "Mode of transport" NOT being enabled on line level when it is on sales order lines..

2. Do you see any limitations or issues one should consider before starting to use this field. Will it have any impact on the customs declarations etc?

3. Could you recommend any other alternative solutions the problem?

RE: Mode of transport on PO line level

    Hi,

In addition to Denis comments, creating a custom field of the same type (i.e. Mode of Delivery/Transport) would preserve the default lookup and validation should user plan to change its value.

So I'd suggest you to add custom field as well.

    Regards,

    Hi

I suggest you to create "mode of transportation" field also on the line table.

It' s better not use standard fields for other purpose than the standard. It's possible that in the future Microsoft deprecate this functionality in the new release.

Also, this field can activate other functionalities and can be showed in some report or form.
