Our sales department wants to have a Sales Pipeline for leads. I understand is this is possible for Opportunities. How do you do it for Leads?
The Sales Pipeline actually an OOTB chart based on Opportunity entity. It is integrated into the dashboard - Sales Activity Social Dashboard.
The Horizontal (Category) Axis Labels of the chart is Pipeline Phase field.
The value of the field is set according to a BPF called Opportunity Sales Process. Please refer to Understand the sales pipeline chart in and its phases | Microsoft Docs for more details.

Thanks for your Reply. The lead does not have a field named Category. How can I track what stage the Lead is in? What field should I be looking at?
The Category is part of the concept "Horizontal (Category) Axis Labels", not a field of the Lead entity.
The OOTB field in Opportunity entity is called Pipeline Phase field, which should be created in Lead entity.

In the OOTB BPF "Opportunity Sales Process" do you know what workflow is doing the updating for the Pipeline Phase Field in Opportunity?
I would like to create my workflow based on this.
