Services are performed and billed in Units not Hours

Hi,  Looking for some suggestions on the best way to handle this.  We can sell the same service in Acres, Hours (this one would work), Houses, Jobs and Miles.  I've set up different items with different Units but I don't have a 'quantity' the 'Service' is always based on duration.  Would I be better off using non-inventory products?   Suggestions appreciated

    1. Use Non-Inventory Products: Ideal for services; no stock tracking.
    2. Set Unit Groups per Service Type: Create a unit group (e.g., "Service Units") with Acres, Hours, etc., as units.
    3. Price per Unit: Define pricing for each unit type accordingly.
    4. Optional – Use custom fields or notes to capture service details like duration or scope.
This setup keeps your catalog flexible and aligns with your billing model.

I'm not sure which product you are using, but if it is Field Service you have three types of products you can set up (defined in the column 'Field Service Product Type'):
    • Inventory - These are physical items that you often track how many are on-hand or available (think air filters)
    • Non-Inventory - These are physical items that can be used (and sometimes have a cost or a price), but you don't typically track (paper towels or nuts)
    • Service - This is specifically about time-based products being offered, such as Labor.

The "Services" are always tracked separately in Field Service, and are based around an hourly price and cost. You should be creating your products with the Field Service Type of "Service" to use time-based billing. These items will then also appear on your Work Orders under the 'Work Order Services' table, rather than with the rest of the products.
