What should be the sign if my amount type is set to Revenue, is it in negative or positive value?

I'm using AX2012 R2.

Pls help.

    Hi,

Please check below community discussion thread as it might help you. It has a suggestion to go with the negative sign.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your immediate reply.

I enter the budget with Revenue amount type set to negative value in budget register.

In creating report in management reporter, in row definition I set the normal balance to C, meaning sign on account will be reversed since it is a revenue so that the presentation in the report will be positive.

But when generating the report in management reporter, the amount is in negative value.

    Pls help.

    Thanks.

    Hello marypeace,

For revenue budgets I would either select 'expense' in the budget line and enter a negative sign or select 'revenue' - as you did - you select a positive sign.

If you are working with MR it should, however, not really matter whether you entered it with the wrong sign. Simply take out the balance conversion C symbol and the amounts should be shown correctly.

Just a side question here for my interest :-) Why do you budget revenue amounts? What is the reason for that?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Thanks for your immediate reply.

So in MR, I will remove the balance conversion C symbol :(

I enter budget for revenue account so that I can compare my actual revenue as against my budgeted revenue.

In that way, I can say what I have budgeted is more or less close to actual.  If not , I will adjust my budget for revenue.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello Marypeace,

If you do not like to change your balance conversion symbol in the MR you can alternatively record a 'correction' budget register entry record. Yet, if everything has already been approved by your managers it might be faster and easier changing the setup in MR.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Marypeace,

Is there something left open here?

Have you been able to get this resolved?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
