Installing and Runing AX VHD on Prem on Azure

Hello,

I am new to AX, I have a VHD of AX on prem. I installed the VHD into my Azure VM using PowerShell. I logged into the VM, but I couldn't find Microsoft Dynamics AX or  Dynamics AX Client. Am I missing something/ how can I run AX on prem?

Thanks.

    Hi Fitsum,

To run AX 2012 on prem you can either download VM from customersource\partnersource or install it on your PC locally using installation media.

There is installation guide available to guide you through installation process if you want to install it locally.

Thank you Ievgen. Even if the VHD has AX I still need to do that? What I did was create VM in Azure the VHD (which is AX on Prem). When I logged into the VM, I see it's running SQL Server 2012 R2. and it has VS and MSQL.

When you talk about Azure it usually means cloud not on-prem :)  Where did you get this VHD from ? Are you sure that AX installed there ?

Ah I see, I was originally planning to use Hyper-V.  So in my VM, I need to login to the localhost to access it? Or do I need to do other configuration?

You did not answer on my questions, anyway, if you have VHD with AX you can create new VM using Hyper-V. Usually there is shortcut on administrators desktop.  You should see AOS in windows services list and Microsoft Dynamics Client and Server configuration utility in list of installed programs.

The reason I didn't do it that way because it requires 16GB RAM and that's how big my laptop is.So decided to use Azure, which I have created a VM using the VHD.
