Visual Studio 2010 connection to Dynamics AX 2012

We have a pilot / test environment configured for AX 2012, but when trying to connect to the AOT in Visual Studio 2010 I get an error in the Application Explorer saying "Disconnected from the AOS."

A couple things of note:

1. Our production environment is still AX 4, and consequently my local development AOS is AX 4 and pointed a server (my machine) that's different from the pilot installation for 2012.

2. When configuring the Visual Studio tools for AX 2012, I got an error saying "The AOS <random name> cannot be reached" if I tried to install the tracer tools.

Where / what do I need to configure to get my VS instance to connect the AOT for our pilot environment?

    Hello,

Excuse the possible silliness of this question. I have a similar sympton in that I can fire up visual studio and I get the same error. I do not have the AX desktop client installed BUT i can use the admin tasks in the control panel to edit a client config and then refresh the WCF settings.

I can also write WCF service calls into the remote service.

I am currently targeting a VPC on the contoso domain, but have added myself as a user with the same password in the domain which is why i think i can use the control panel to edit the config.

    Hello,

The solution didn't worked out for me. When I open Application Explorer, VS closes with AppCrash error.

    Client Configuration: ngrGrv

    DevEnv.exe Target : "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe" /AxConfig ngrGrv

    Any solutions.

    Thank you

This (already answered) thread wasn't about a crash of Visual Studio, so you seem to have a different problem. Please create a new thread and explain your particular situation there. Don't forget to check event logs and share any finding in your thread.
