Hi,

We have developed a customized report and need to upload it on UAT and later on production server, but we are unable to do so as we do not have enough knowledge to achieve this. Need help or complete training document to achieve the task.

Kindly note that we are using Dynamics 365 -Finance and Operation - on prem.

Regards,

Rizwan

    Hi,

    the high level steps are:

    1. The developer checks in their changes in source control
    2. You set up a build pipeline that creates a deployable package from the customizations in your source control
    3. This deployable package is uploaded to LCS Asset library
    4. This deployable package is applied to UAT system
    5. Testing in UAT
    6. The UAT application is promoted to Prod system

Managing your customizations and application lifecycle is quite a big topic. I recommend to start by reading everything in this excellent site: https://ariste.info/en/dynamics365almguide/welcome/

You just need to note that a couple of automation tools/steps are not available for on-premises: uploading deployable package to LCS Asset library and applying a deployable package to UAT. But you anyway begin by learning all the steps manually and understanding them.

One option is also to hire some expert to help you learn this whole process. Otherwise you might make mistakes (such as "we don't need source control") which can cause expensive problems later.

    Hi Rizwan,

I would recommend to start reading the documentation. Develop and deploy custom models to on-premises environments - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Doc

    Hi,

We followed the steps mentioned to achieve the goal. Everything went well, but ended up with this error. Any idea and solution about the error.

    Hi,

could you be more specific about the exact steps that you made? I quickly searched for this error, and it seems to have happened because a deployable package was created on a dev system, instead of using a build pipeline. This indicates that you might not have followed the steps that I suggested.

But it could be also about something else so please share all the details. Please also let us know the D365 version that you're using in your dev system, build pipeline and UAT system. Thanks!

    Hi,

The steps followed are as follows:

-created a deployable package from visual studio dynamics 365 menu
-Deployable package uploaded to LCS Asset library
-Deployable package applied to UAT system
    UAT Version: 10.0.20
    Dev Version: 10.0.17

    Hi,

Please note that Azure DevOps is not configured in our environment, otherwise, we followed exactly the same steps as you prescribed.

    Please advise.

    Regards,

    Rizwan

You should use Azure DevOps and you should use Build pipelines to create deployable packages. Your will have plenty of problems in addition to your current one if you don't do that.

    Hi,

Thanks for your prompt response. Can you list down the Azure DevOps installation steps and what will be the impact on our existing on premise environment.

    Regards,

    Rizwan
