Posted on by 515

Hi,

I created an application to take orders from a website from our Customers (1500 customers) which are existed in navision database  and it uses Navision webservices to check stock level and to place final order. for remaining item/customer lookup etc it uses sql server (sql server 2012 core Licencse been used) .

In this scenario Do I need Licence for Navision webservice? If needed How many licences and what licencses do i need to buy.

Please let me know ASAP , Thanks in Advance

    Hi Castro,

    Thanks for the details!!.

My application was being used by my customers using custom build php application and they don't access navision.

In this case I need to buy an external Connector licence to serve the legality of Microsoft.

    Thanks for the details.

    Regards

    Hello Mouli,

The licensing model is constantly changing. As I understand it, for NAV2009 if the people using the application you've made are external users (not workers of the company) which would be your case, then you need once license per connector.

You can find the licensing guide here download.microsoft.com/.../Use_Terms_Retail_Dynamics_ERP_Aug2011.pdf

In there, you can find this text:

External Connector Licenses. You must assign each external connector license you acquire to a system

database. Each external connector license assigned to a system database permits any number of third party users

to access that system database. You do not need concurrent, named user or device CAL licenses for those users.

You may not use the external connector for business process outsourcing purposes. However, you may use the

software to provide business process outsourcing services to unaffiliated third parties provided that they do not

access the software or system database

    Hope it helps
