How to add custom lookup on standard financial dimension in D365 FO

Posted on by 10

Hi,

I have 2 financial dimension LOB & SubLOB.

In LOB there are 3 values like 1001,1002,1002

and SubLOB are 1001-01,1001-02,1001-03,1002-01,1002-02,1002-03,1003-01,1003-02,1003-03

when I am selecting the value in LOB financial dimension is 1001

that time i want to show in SubLOB are 1001-01,1001-02,1001-03

i.e. I want to add custom lookup on existing Financial dimension base on another selected FD value in D365 FO

Please can any one help me for that

Thanks

    Hi Sophs@4Sight,

You can achieve your requirement with help of a security policy. This is commonly known as Extensible Data Security (XDS). You can then restrict records to be visible for users based on a particular condition.
You can read about XDS and find some examples on my blog: Extensible Data Security examples for Microsoft Dynamics (dynamicspedia.com)

    Good day
Were you able to find a solution to this question?  I have a similar requirement.
In my requirement certain users are assigned to one or more specific Brands. The Brand is a Financial dimension.
When the user creates a Purchase order and adds a Purchase order line, the lookup on the Financial Dimension for Brands should only show the Brands that he has access to.
Then further a validation must be added to ensure that if the user typed in a Brand dimension value that the value is valid.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Darshana,

Is your question about journal entry or master data like default dimensions on customers? You can use account structures or advanced rule to define the relation. Then on journal entry, it will filter already out of the box. Also there is an option to use Organization hierarchies and add relations between dimensions based on internal operating units.

If your question is about default dimensions on e.g. a customer details form, then there is no support out of the box.
