Dynamics AX 2012 R3 and Visual Studio 2010 update

Hi all,

I have a fresh install of DynamicsAX 2012 R3 client installed on my station and a fresh install of Visual Studio 2013.  I'm trying to add componants for developpers in AX but I get prerequisite warnings that I need to update VS 2010.

Anyone know a workaround for this?

Many thanks in advance.

That's correct. Visual Studio 2013 is not supported in R3 until CU8.

Is upgrading to CU8 easy or should I start looking for VS2010 express or something?

    For AX 202 R3

In addition to Visual Studio 2010, you need to have VS2012 SP1 (Update)

Also you need BIDS from SQL 2008.

If we're talking about a fresh install, then it is easy (upgrading an existing system with customizations and data would be a completely different topic). Download CU9 for R3 (it's better to take the latest one so you don't have to upgrade later) in the version for slipstreaming (direct LCS link). Integrate it to your installation files and run the installer again - you'll be installing the CU9 version of AX client. Don't forget to upgrade all components that you installed before with the installer without cumulative updates.

If I opt to update to CU8 on the server, do I need to upgrade to CU8 on every client machine already installed, and will there be a side effect on EP already installed on Sharepoint Server?

Yes, you should have all components on the same version, otherwise the system may not to work correctly.
