Dear All,

As i know we can import data in to table from excel through job and export data fro "Export to excel".
Then why we need "DIXF" ?
Is there any specific features in DIXF which is not possible in excel ?

Please give me more shed on this.

Thanks!

Arpan

    Hi,

DIXF is a data import/export framework introduced in AX2012 that operates on data for different formats like excel(spreadsheet), csv, text file, database etc for complex business scenarios.

With job we have to write code explicitly for everything to import/export data for different business scenarios, for different formats of data, acquire file I/O permissions and perform the task. Moreover history is not maintained to check when/what kind of data and source of data we imported from.

DIXF framework has all this capabilities and also with it provides source preview of data, business logics/default values for data can be embedded the help of source to staging and staging to target mapping.

    Hi @rp@n

    also in DMF,

you can run business validation and run business logic in insert and update method.

you can compare data between company.

you can copy entities data between companies

The best part is you can use all kind of business logics and also performance is far better. We are using DMFs extensively in our releases.

    Thanks Sukrut,

    Point no 5:

As said if 20% data having issue and 80% data go through. Then I need to import only 20% data which having issue after rectify.

Please give me more shed on this.

    Hi Arpan,

You can filter out 20% records that are failed and correct them by exporting in excel or in staging itself.  For example - you have 20% records failed due to wrong cust group and you need to correct it to some default value then you can make that field as auto default in staging and assign your cust group value to it and import them.

Whereas in case of multiple errors you can filter the error records and run the data validation - DIXF will highlight the errors and accordingly you can make changes in those records only and again import it.
