How AX system update CostPhysicalAmount when Report as Finish

Hi everybody

I have read some documents in TechNet and Microsoft website . These document said physical amount could be updated through production order report as finish

However, I just test the system, and RAF  didn't update physical amount for my finish goods item. On other hand, I end production order, system only record financial amount and the system also generate CostAmountOperation field.

I really want to know that

Are there any configuration to let system update physical amount for item in RAF steps? or is this standard behavior of system?

Which is purpose of CostAmountOperation field?

My configuration:

In production control parameter, I set up post report as finish in ledger

In item model group, I choose Weight  Average method and I also check post physical inventory check box and include physical value checkbox.

Please kindly give me some information about that.

    Hi Jack  

    To evaluate the raw materials by the average cost price you can create a job that updates the released cost price field with the current running average cost price. This is a quite easy and riskless modification.

    Trying to modify the calculation of the RAF values or something alike can terribly go wrong if not done very careful because many scenarios need to be taken into consideration such as reversals of a production step, changes that are applied by the inventory close, etc. Personally, I would recommend not doing that.

    I understand that I need to end production order for recording actual average cost amount.

    However, my scenario is "How to estimate raw materials cost in Price calculation by Weight Average, not lasted cost price?" and I don't  end production at this time, I just want record physical amount of RAF

    I need the physical amount will be close with actual production cost. ( financial amount). Because our country accounting rule request we need to record closing  work-in-process value and work-in-process value exactly. So I want to customize to record RAF physical amount = WIP value and take some actions to calculate Closing WIP without ending production order.

    So I think if I can estimate raw materials cost in price calculation function by Weight Average, I might have some points to resolve my problem

    Can AX standard system resolve that?

    Hi,

    You are right with the estimated cost amount used for the report as finished process step given your setup.

    About the raw material costs:

    AX will use the actual average cost amount when you end the production. If this cost amount is $0 then an adjustment will be recorded with the inventory close or recalculation. Can you let us know why the material cost price is $0?

    Thank you for sharing your time for my question. I really appreciate about that.

    I checked the system again and realized that physical amount will be calculated from estimate production cost if I checked "Use estimated cost price" at Production Control parameter.

    However, I faced with the new problem now. I want system estimate raw materials cost by Weight Average, so I setup Cost price model in calculation group = inventory cost but system estimate cost is zero. I only can take lasted cost price of raw materials by setting cost price model = item cost price

    How can I calculated raw material cost price by Weight average, sir?
