Error The "BuildTask" task returned false but did not log an error

Hi guys,

I'm just learning D365 F&O programming, using downloadable VHD, but currently there is an error which I don't know why ?

The error is like this :

Found some article about same issue and it says actually the real problem is in the 2nd row. But the 2nd row also talking about something not mine. And I'm the only one use this VM. If not mistaken, Application Suite is a "system" layer object, can I say that ?

I didn't make any change of this object, further more I guess we can't make change of it, right ?

How to solve this ?

Please, confirm that the enum RetailChannelAttributeModifeier is available in the ApplicationSuite model.

Build the applicationSuite model

Confirm that your own model AXTrain references Application Suite and build your model.

I guess it's not normal to Build ApplicationSuite Model (I select 2 of the Application Suite) over than 8 hours, right ?

If I checked Task Manager inside that VM, CPU is 100% with memory 98%.

At the time I write this, it is still compiling. Also I wondering if the result still same, what to do (if the enum not available) since this is system model ?

And most of all, it is ok before for couple of days since it started which is a week ago, then suddenly this happened.

My model it self is refer to that Application Suite, and as I'm just starting, it only a simple beginner custom like creating new enum and edit 1-2 table, and a few simple classes.

It seems nothing's wrong with the said object ->

But I noticed this is Retail object, however strange it is (because it is actually exist), can I exclude this from my Build ? Because I really do not need this Retail.

Ok, Solved.

After I add references Retail to my own Model, then Build is passed.

Still don't understand why it needs to refer to Retail, but my guess is this version of VHD had too. I'm not sure, but anyway the error is gone.

Probably, there an object in your model that references the Retail model.

I faced the same problem, and it turned out that the reason was that I created a field of type Enum in my table, then deleted it without saving or building the project. After that, I added another field in the same table with the same name but of type string.
My problem was solved when I deleted this field from the table and rebuilt the project.
