Error while Installing Reporting Tools

Hi Guys,

I have installed the demo server and have installed the following components.

  1. AOS
  2. AX client 2009
  3. EP and Role Center
  4. Reporting Extensions

Now when am trying to install Reporting tools am getting the following error.

    Hi,

    I got a similar error given by reporting tools installation.

    Error 1308. Source file not found: E:\Dynamics AX 2009\AX2009 RTM\Msi\Components64\Users\Microsoft\DynamicsConfiguration\Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.Design.Model.Reports.ReportsModelDefinition\Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.Design.Configuration.dll.  Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

    This means, in the installation support files at the location

    E:\Dynamics AX 2009\AX2009 RTM\Msi\Components64\Users\Microsoft\DynamicsConfiguration\Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.Design.Model.Reports.ReportsModelDefinition

    Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.Design.Configuration.dll.  is missing

    Please see if this helps.

    I am sorry....I forgot to post the solution...anyway its straight forward

    If the dll is missing, you should try to get the dll from anyother AX build available.

    And the above path be your AX installation path,.

    I tried doing that but still facing the same error. Yes like you said the dll file was missing and i copied the dll file to the location you mentioned and still the same error. is there any other solution to it.

    Hi,

    Actually I just copy pasted the dll and it worked fine for me.

    Atleast there should be some change in your error message after you have the dll in place right?

    Make sure the version numbers of both the files are the same.

    One more suggestion is, if you are in proper license terms, you can check with your partner or Microsoft about the missing dll.

    Hi Frankinson Dinesh, 

    You must install Microsoft Visual Studio Ultimate 2013 and check all the component requirements to proceed installations.

    First step:

    1. Go to your AX INSTALLER inside the folder, at the right top corner search: "Configuration.dll"

    It will be trying to find all missing dll on your path.

    2. When you found Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.Design.Configuration.dll

    3. Get a copy CTRL+C and Paste CTRL+V to your DESKTOP, Then Restart your computer.

    4. Now, Back to your desktop and CTRL+C and then Go to 

    D:\MYFOLDER AX INSTALLER\Updates\R3 CU8 (KB2998197)\msi\vstools64\users\microsoft\dynamicsconfiguration\microsoft.dynamics.framework.design.model.reports.reportsmodeldefinition

    5. Run AX Setup again. :) Hope it helps a lot
