Penny differences in Vendor/Ledger reconciliation report

Hi,

Has anyone else come across this issue where the amount posted to the vendor balance is different to that posted to the ledger balance? This creates a penny difference shown in the Vendor/ledger reconciliation report which is not automatic posted to the penny difference account.

This only relates to transactions posted in a foreign currency.

When I look closer at the transactions I see that the exchange rate used to calculate the vendor balance amount is the one posted in AX (example 8,6845). However when i look at the ledger transaction in the voucher I see that the exchange rated used to calculate the amount has more decimals (example 8,6845035473), which creates a penny difference between the amount posted to the ledger balance and the amount posted to the vendor balance.

In this example the vendor balance amount is 373 576,62 while the ledger balance amount is 373 576,86 which creates a discrepancy of 0,24 between the two amounts posted.

Does anyone have any suggestions for this problem?

I solved this problem by applying this hotfix from Microsoft: KB 3102194 (for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3).

KB 3102194 Design change - Secure rounded amount in accounting currency between subledger accounting and subledgers on document level

    PROBLEM

This Design change is to secure rounded amounts in accounting currency between subledger accounting and subledgers on document level.

Examples of this can be seen in foreign currency vendor invoice postings from a Purchase order where certain amounts may round differently when creating the vendor transaction in the AP subledger as compared to the voucher recorded in the general ledger.

The Free Text Invoice posting is also susceptible to this rounding logic issue.

    DESCRIPTION OF CHANGE

The changes in this fix enable the same amount to be posted in the subledgers (AP/AR/Tax) as compared to the general ledger.

The framework will perform any adjustment required for accounting entries with this posting type and generate a new account entry for Accounting currency and/or Reporting currency rounding.

    Hi Muhammad,

Have to been in contact with Microsoft regarding this problem? I have searched for a potential hotfix, but I haven't been able to find one that cover this exact problem.

RE: Penny differences in Vendor/Ledger reconciliation report

    Hi Ludwig,

Thank you for your reply. I have tried to change the penny difference settings in the AP and the currency rounding rules in the currencies form (both at the same time and one by one) in GL without any results to this problem unfortunatly. I can't understand how the system can use different decimals when calculating the amount for the vendor balance and the ledger balance. There is only posted one excange rate in AX and this is the one used to calculate the vendor balance. I do not see from where the system finds the decimals for the calculation of the ledger balance.

    Hi Pranev,

Thank you for your response. I have run the currency revaluation and this does not update the balances. This problem have been ongoing for about a year now, and we have tries almost anything to correct it. The aging report shows the same amount as the vendor balance that is shown in the reconciliation report. The problem is that the vendor balance is not exactly the same as the ledger balance due to the use of different decimals in the exchange rate.

    Hi Janes;

Thats a very nice catch. By the way, did you ran Foreign currency revaluation and does it update the balances here?

Also, can you also check if the vendor balance in reconciliation report is same as balance in aging report. The reason why i would check is because the report might be behaving differently for exchange rate, this is just a try.

    Hi,

One possibility to fix this problem might be changing (a) the penny difference settings in the AP parameters and/or (b) the currency rounding rules in the currencies form in GL.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
