Hi,
I am new to Applying Hotfixes OR Cumulative updates as never came across this. Few weeks back I was trying to Apply CU9 to my AX 2012 R2 CU7 environment ( Standalone Test environment without affecting anyone) but was all lost.
I have a very basic question,
I am aware of the fact that Cumulative Update is a collection of hotfixes and a Hotfix is a fix for a particular scenario. While Applying CU, we have to follow the upgrade guide and have to follow the steps for In-Place Upgrade for the same.
As I was trying to Apply the Hotfix today, I came across the same Software Update Checklist as I got while Applying CU9.
Question:
1. What is the basic difference in terms of the steps to be performed when Applying HotFix Vs Cumulative Update:
c. Are we even supposed to complete the Sotfware Update Checklist while Applying Hotfix, that pops up when we open AX Client as below,
Would appreciate for some help.
Thanks in advance.
Sincerely,
Muneeb

I have the same question (0)Hi Muneeb
At the link below you can read the difference between a hotfix, cumulative update, Service Pack, and Feature Pack
technet.microsoft.com/.../hh335183.aspx
However, from a "code" point of view, the steps that we have to follow are practically the same.
A cumulative update for sure not include only Models ( code ), but also the Binary Hotfixes related the AX Components like AOS, Client, etc.
