Cannot create a sales opportunity directly, without going through a lead

Greetings.

It seems that regardless of where I in Sales Hub go to create an opportunity, I get a project opportunity instead of a sales opportunity.  I have tried creating from the Opportunities list (under Sales in the left pane), and also through related opportunities of a Contact. In either case, the flow that gets selected is 'Project Service - Opportunity Sales Process'.  If I create a Lead first, it correctly uses the 'Lead to Opportunity Sales Process' flow.  I have also noticed that I do not have the 'Opportunity Sales Process' flow under Advanced Settings | Processes.

Any thoughts about why I am missing the 'Opportunity Sales Process' flow, and why new opportunities use the 'Project Service - Opportunity Sales Process' flow?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Partner,

1.Why missing the 'Opportunity Sales Process' flow?

In my environment, only 'Opportunity Sales Process' flow, no 'Project Service - Opportunity Sales Process'.

Details of 'Opportunity Sales Process' as following screenshot shown:

In the description field there is a reference to the project service and the fact that it is the default, you can compare this with your BPF-'Project Service - Opportunity Sales Process', click name of it  to check correct entity-opportunitysalesprocess.

I reasonably suspect that the two are the same thing, just with different Process name.

2.Difference between Lead to Opportunity Sales Process and Opportunity Sales Process

Lead to Opportunity Sales Process: Your sales process begins with a lead—someone who is interested in the products or services you provide.

Opportunity Sales Process: Your sales process starts directly with an opportunity.

These processes follow a common pattern of four stages. The first stage is similar in both processes but has a different starting point (entity) while the rest of the stages are common.

I don't think these are the same.  Here are the details of my 'Project Service - Opportunity Sales Process'. This is the flow I get when I create a new opportunity. The entities are Opportunity -> Quote -> Order -> Order.  That is not correct.

In your screenshot, the entities are (as they should correctly be) all Opportunity.

And here's a list of my Business Process flows

I created this sandbox and a production environment about a month ago.  They both have the same issue.

Interesting developement.  I created a new environment.  This time, I deployed only the Sales Enterprise application (in previous environments, I had deployed Customer Service, Field Service, Project Service Automation and Sales Enterprise).

In this new environment with only Sales Enterprise, I have the expected 'Opportunity Sales Process' rather than the 'Project Service - Opportunity Sales Process'.  So it seems to be an issue that happens depending on which applications you deploy.

    Hi,

Yes, maybe you are right, it depends on which applications you deploy.

I read a little more about Project Service Automation.  It has Lead and Opportunity entities also, along with business workflows, etc. just like Sales. It probably isn't a good idea to deploy both in the same environment.  Just my guess.  I haven't seen any guidance on that.

For reasons that I sincerely doubt even MS could effectively explain, if you install PSA, MS just assumes that PSA needs to be more important than Sales Pro.
