Hi gurus,

I've been doing some work in the Data management module, copying into Legal entity to be precise.

I've created a new Legal entity and now trying to copy Journal names from USMF to my new legal entity

I have run the Generate number sequence in Organisation Administration

when I click the Copy to Legal entity to copy I get the below error:

Voucher series code Alloc_01 cannot be used with sc01 company

When I view staging, only the AP invoice completed

Do i need to enable the Copy Number sequence before

trying to understand how this works

Hi James,

Indeed, you have to ensure there will be company specific number sequences available n your new legal entity before copy the journal names. You can use the same coding for those number sequences. If you will change the coding, you also have to ensure it will be changed in the source file/staging before you copy it to the target company.

I know why the error is occurring, but how do i ensure that my new company has specific number sequence?

Does not not happen when you GENERATE SEQUENCE in Org and admin. module?

This error Voucher series code Alloc_01 cannot be used with sc01 company,

Alloc_01 is already used by USMF, how can i for instance create Alloc_02 for SC01? before copying?

Hello James T,

Journals usually have own and new number sequences that are not automatically created with the wizard in the OrgAdmin module.

You would have to create them before you can import/copy the journal names.

My question is still how would I create them before running the import /copy , could you please if possible show a step be step guide?

I created the new company

Ran the generate number sequence

Then tries to import from USMF to new company

How and where do i create them after generating the sequence?

Hi James,

Manually create those number sequences with the same name as original legal entity.

Or copy number sequence from original legal entity before copying journal name.

Hi Rahul - I'm still fairly new to migrating data using 'copy to Legal entities'

What you've described here sounds like a best practice going forward

when you say 'resetting number sequences and assigning company prefix during import is recommended'

could you please explain with detailed steps.

These are the steps I followed to get it to work

Create new Legal entity

Go to Data Management - set data source as USMF, Existing as my new legal entity

Enable copy numbers (2 entities can now be run

Run the legal to legal entity - This was successful

Then added the Journal names entity and ran that too

and these steps successfully copies all Journal names from USMF to new LE

What are the drawbacks of having the same voucher series for both Legal entities
