General Journal submission to workflow - disappearing Workflow button

We've been implementing minimal privilege security on our Dynamics 365 Finance system. We have done task recordings of some users creating General Journals, who then submit the journals for approval by pressing the "Workflow" button at the top of the screen.

Having done the task recording, both Dynamics System Admin Security Settings for Task Recordings and Fastpath give us a clean bill of health doing the end to end process (we have added the duties and privileges that are listed as needed). However, when the user selects a journal to post, the workflow button evaporates.

Any ideas how we can find out what duty or privilege setting(s) we're missing to allow the workflow button to stay in place for us to be able to submit journals for approval?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Ian,

You can right click on the workflow button and select Form Information. From there you can view the control details.

That should help with the form/table needed for that function.

    I hope that helps!

    Hi Ian,

I wonder if you found your answer or if you still need some help with this question. Can you provide an update?

This helped tremendously - thank you. We ended up doing a dump of user privilege settings from before and compared line by line to what we have now - and found 5 lots of "Maintain Journals and Transactions" duties (each with different privilege settings) had gone missing. Added them in - as well as the button name - and voila, all back.
