Resource, Resource Group (Work Cell), Production Flow interaction - Lean Manufacturing

I am very new to Dynamics AX and I need some direction on how the resource, resource group and production flow interact.  In particular I want to setup a work cell that has a capacity of 1 piece per minute, the work cell has 3 stations and 3 operators, I have a standard 8 hour day.  I want the production to be scheduled at the rate of the work cell - 1 piece per minute.  However, I need to account for 3 operators time for costing.

With all of the option available I am not sure what features use in the resource form, resource group or production flow since they all seem to have calendars and the capacity elements in them.

    Dear Elena,

Are you planning to configure kanban (lean manufacturing)?

If so, please visit to below technet link for more details about how to configure lean manufacturing and kanban board.

In general, resource group is group of resources who perform the similar  tasks or may be belong to the same location. It depends on the business purpose how you may need to group the multiple resources under common resource group.

You need to set up the calendars where you need to define the available capacity for a resource and need to link calendar to the resource/resource groups.

    I hope this helps.

Yes, this will be supported with kanban.  I've gone with a workcell that has 3 location resources and a 204% efficiency on a human resource resource.  I've used the lean scheduling group to identify products that take longer than the 1 piece per minute.  I'm currently getting this setup in our test environment to see what it does.

The above did not work.  The resource time is still for 1 minute.  How do I set this up so the labor time is different than the scheduling time?

    Hi Elena,

I am not sure how to set this up in case of lean manufacturing setup but ideally labor is defined as the secondary work center or work cell and scheduling time is driven by the primary work center.

You can try increasing the efficiency for the operator to say from 100 % to 200 % and I believe system will allow to work on two jobs at a time then. Just a pointer.

    Regards

    -Rahul
