Marketing Setup in Business Central

What is the purpose of the Marketing Setup in BC.  Seems a little redundant, especially if most customers already have a CRM?  Does it provide any added value?

    Hi JG,

You need to keep in mind that not all customers choose to integrate CRM with Business Central. While Business Central is an all-in-one solution, it's primarily designed for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) that may not always require a full CRM solution. For many, Business Central provides comprehensive functionality across financials, operations, and inventory management without the need for an integrated CRM system. However, for businesses that require advanced customer relationship management, integrating CRM with Business Central can enhance their overall workflow.

    Thanks
    Ramesh

The Marketing Setup in Business Central is designed for basic customer relationship management (CRM) functionalities within BC, focusing on contacts, interactions, and segmentation. While many businesses use dedicated CRM solutions like Dynamics 365 Sales, BC’s built-in marketing features help manage contacts, track interactions, and segment customers without needing external integration.

It’s useful for small to mid-sized businesses that don’t require a full CRM but still need basic marketing and relationship tracking. However, for advanced CRM needs, integrating with Dynamics 365 Sales or another CRM is the better approach.

The main purpose is to manage the set up of creating contacts. It has several fields that specify how new contacts will be created such as the no. series used. Typically your vendors and customers would have contacts setup so this is why you would setup the market setup page.
