NAV 2013 Beta - Code deviations

Posted on by 95

Hi

I was wondering when we will see a new release of the NAV 2013 beta for download.

I am currently working on getting our addons ready for 2013 and have found that there are quite a few very annoying differences between the W1 version and the DK version of 2013.

Ie codeunit 418 User Management. This codeunit has the SAME version list in both W1 and DK but the W1 version is lacking a lot of code that the DK version has. This results in ie table 25 being different between W1 and DK even though it STILL has the same verison no.

This is not a satisfactory situation. I am not aware how MS works on their products internally but since I manage like 30 versions of addons across all the released version of Dynamics NAV I do have a good idea of how it SHOULD be done.

Please for the love of your partners. Get this under control and make sure the version list reflects any differences between versions. It is not hard to do. Just make sure that any basic changes are created in the base version (w1) and propagated to the other versions based on this!

Another example is Codeunit 412. It exists in W1 but not in DK. Resulting in a number of objects being different between W1 and DK but again having the SAME version no.

To me it seems like the Danish Development team has made a lot of changes in the W1 objects but haven't bothered actually implementing them in the W1 build. That is just...

Consitent versioning is essential in any kind of environment where you have to manage upgrades and we really cannot live with these kinds of faults.

    Hi Tommy,

I can understand this. There are similar deviations between W1 and DE. Using SVN helps, but a consistent versioning would be a good thing.

    with best regards
