Can't deploy reports to unified developer environment

I have been modifying the SalesInvoice SSRS report and both the online build and the deploy reports were working fine but this error started to show up recently:

Retrieving the SSRS Server IP Address failed with the following exception: Failed to obtain app setting from for: BiReporting.PersistentVirtualMachineIPAddressSSRS
 at Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.Tools.Reports.DesignTime.RdlDeployment.GetReportServerAddress()
 at Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.Tools.Reports.DesignTime.RdlDeployment.GetReportServerUrl()
 at Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.Tools.BuildTasks.ReportDeploymentWrapper.Deploy(IEnumerable`1 elements)
 at Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.Tools.BuildTasks.AsyncBuildController.DoReportDeployment(CancellationToken token, IEnumerable`1 elements, BuildTrigger buildTrigger).

    Good morning, afternoon, or evening depending on your location!

    This error typically occurs when the system is unable to retrieve the SSRS server IP address due to a misconfiguration or missing settings. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

    Steps to Resolve:

    1. Check App Settings:
      • Verify that the BiReporting.PersistentVirtualMachineIPAddressSSRS app setting is correctly configured in the environment.
      • Ensure that the setting points to the correct IP address or hostname of the SSRS server.
    2. Validate SSRS Configuration:
      • Open the SQL Server Reporting Services Configuration Manager and confirm that the SSRS instance is properly configured.
      • Check the Web Service URL and Report Manager URL to ensure they are accessible.
    3. Verify Network Connectivity:
      • Ensure that the machine running the deployment has network access to the SSRS server.
      • Test the connection to the SSRS server using its IP address or hostname.
    4. Check User Permissions:
      • Confirm that the user account performing the deployment has the necessary permissions to access the SSRS server and deploy reports.
    5. Restart Services:
      • Restart the SSRS Service and the AOS Service (if applicable) to refresh the configuration.
    6. Rebuild and Redeploy:
      • Rebuild the report project in Visual Studio or the development environment.
      • Attempt to redeploy the reports after rebuilding.
    7. Review Logs:
      • Check the event logs or SSRS logs for additional details about the error.

    Hope this helps some!

    I think the error typically means the system can't retrieve the SSRS server IP due to a missing or misconfigured application setting:

    First, check LCS environment configuration — make sure the BI Reporting VM is running (if using one). Then, check the `web.config` or Azure app settings if in cloud-hosted environments, and ensure this setting exists and is correctly defined. Also verify network/firewall access and that report services are running. If recently upgraded or changes were made to the environment, the setting may have been cleared or needs to be re-added manually.

    Are you using a cloud-hosted environment or managed by Microsoft Tier 2+?

    Hello @Raj Borad,

    The environment is not a cloud hosted environment in LCS and was created in admin.powerplatform.com as provisioning for F&O unified developer experience.

    Hi,

    Using an Unified Developer Environment, there is no option to check for SSRS settings. You can try to rebuild and deploy the entire model (not just the solution or project). Also ensure you perform a full database sync.

    In case the issue persists, check if all reports have an issue.

    Edit: Looks like i made a change in a conditional part of the report design, which did not register the columns that i added regardless of this issue. As you suggested,  Deploying the model to the online environment solved the issue.

    Hi @André Arnaud de Calavon, could you please suggest another solution for this issue? I'm facing the same situation, but unfortunately, your last suggestion didn’t work in my case.
