Sales Order Line Item Reservation

Is there a way of preventing reservation of line item quantity for a Sales Order?

    Hi,

    Yes, it is possible to prevent reservation of line item quantity for a Sales Order in Business Central.

    To do this, you can follow these steps:

    1. Open the Sales Order page in Business Central.
    2. Navigate to the "Line" section of the page.
    3. Select the line item(s) for which you want to prevent reservation.
    4. Click on the "Actions" button and select "Line -> Planning Line -> Delete Line."
    5. Confirm the deletion of the planning line(s) for the selected line item(s)

    By deleting the planning lines for the selected line item(s), you will prevent the system from reserving the quantity of the item(s) for the sales order. This means that the item(s) will be available for other sales orders or transactions until the order is shipped. However, it is important to note that deleting the planning line(s) for a sales order line item will also remove any available-to-promise information for that item, which may impact future order fulfillment decisions.

    Hi Nitin:

    I'm not finding an "Actions" button, at the line item level.

    And, the "Actions" button at the top of the Sales Order does not offer a suggestion to delete a Planning Line.

    not all sales order has order tracking information. it could be manually created by users.

    you could simply add the column Reserve to the line and choose Never. This could be set up on item card as well. Item set up as Never won't be be able to be reserved

    To prevent this You can adjust the Reserve option field on the Item Card. (Planning tab) OR on Customer Card (Shipping tab)Set to to Never or Manual - so that reservation is not done automatically.
