Marking against a Picking List for a Production Order Line in AX 2012 with Change Management

Hey everyone;

So I want to use Change Management in AX 2012 to stop tampering with POs and enforce and approval workflow.

Bad news is, it clashes with auto-PO creation for vendor-type BOM items at estimate stage.

Nevermind, I thought I could work around it and raise the vendor-type service item through the normal PO (or Purchase Requisition) process and then mark it. Sounds great in principle.

Put it to practice: item on BOM, created a PO, approved it, confirmed it.

Went to Production Order and Started it... it created a Picking List but didn't post it (because I didn't ask it to).

Now going to the marking screen from the PO lines, it does not see the picking list item, or even the BOM item.

Tried to do it from the other end, there was no marking option to begin with.

So, how exactly am I going to receive that lot and post it to my Production Order to get the correct cost into my WIP?

Help please.

Many Thanks

Ismael

    Hello again;

    I think I found a work around.

    All subcontract services need to have a default vendor, a dummy vendor just for the purpose of creating an auto PO.

    Exclude that vendor from change management.

    When the production order is estimated, it fires up a PO for that vendor with status approved. Delete that PO.

    Raise another PO for the subcontract service item, with the correct vendor and prices etc. and go through the normal approval process.

    When the PO is approved, you can now go and mark that PO line against the production line.

    (the key for having the production order visible in the marking is to have it estimated).

    Start the production order, receive the PO, it posts to WIP, report it as finished, then end it.

    Picks up the correct costs.

    The only challenge now is to automate deleting the first PO.

    Feedback still welcome.

    Cheers

    Ismael

    In  AX2012, Service item cannot be part of BOM Lines, hence, a Purchase order cannot be created automatically. Not sure how to handle this issue.

    Service items can be part of BOM in AX2012, provided it has the item model group which has the selection of "Stocked product" check box.
