Marketing E-Mail, maximal Size of 100kb

Posted on by 110

Hi All,

We have created a great marketing email template with the client, this leads to a warning message:

"HTML: This email is too large and it may affect its deliverability. Consider reducing the content to less than 100kb."

Now we are wondering if there can be problems when sending about 10,000 emails that are up to 200 kb in size?

Or is it just a warning that it could cause problems in the contacts inbox?

I have found hints about this in the Microsoft Docs, but would like to hear practical experience from you....

Thanks

Mario

RE: Marketing E-Mail, maximal Size of 100kb

    Hi,

Here is the concept of Dataverse Capacity: New Microsoft Dataverse storage capacity - Power Platform | Microsoft Docs.

A Marketing Email is one record, as long as the total size of the records does not exceed this capacity, it can be saved.

The size of the email is determined by the email reader.

The sizes of the received emails which are sent to Outlook and Gmail with the same Marketing Email will be different.

Here is an example: (The size can also be seen by download the email.)

    Outlook - 64KB Gmail - 16KB

    pastedimage1629187604868v3.png

And the size checked in Customer Journey is the size of the HTML content, which is not the same concept as the size of an email.

So what you need to do is to minimize the size of the message to ensure that it passes the error check, while ensuring that the content contains what you need.

I also just noticed that another email with only an image text and a button is already showing as 132 kb in Outlook, but Dynamics Marketing is not warning me that this email is over 100 kb.

Does anyone know anything about where this difference is coming from?

I am grateful for any answer :)

RE: Marketing E-Mail, maximal Size of 100kb

    Hi,

thanks for the fast response. We are aware that the emails are a bit big, but how can we reduce the size? We used a Dynamics Layout as Base and added content like columns, pictures and so on.

We are after double checking at 400kb and in the text you linked it says:

"Emails larger than 128 KB can't be delivered by a customer journey (the journey will fail its error check if it includes messages larger than this)"

But you wrote: "For your sending process, there is no problem as long as the total size does not exceed the Capacity of your Dataverse." - Whats the capacity of the dataverse?

And what would be the best practice to

    1) reduze the size of the email, OR

    2) make sure, that the customer journey works?

    Thanks for your Help

    Hi Mario,

Here are two sections which mention the size limitation of the Marketing Email.

    Design your content

Be mindful of the size of your HTML content

The detailed statements are as follows:

    pastedimage1629162810286v1.png

    pastedimage1629162911945v2.png

    Based on my experience:

For your sending process, there is no problem as long as the total size does not exceed the Capacity of your Dataverse.

The main problem is still the risk of being blocked by the recipient's mailbox.
