Send a Marketing Email from a flow and recording it as an activity.

I've got a request from my end user to send a marketing email from the Opportunity from a Sales process.

I think basically I can achieve this with a flow.

However they also want it recorded as an activity.

Is it possible to create an activity entity for Marketing Email (in isolation from the Marketing Email), and then use that activity entity to send the Marketing Email (again via a Flow)

Would this be able to record the sending of a marketing email in the timeline, with the flow doing the sending?

    Hi Lee,

    Please keep in mind 2 things:

    • A Marketing email can only be sent via a Marketing Customer Journey
    • A contact can go through the Customer Journey only once

    With that said, there are multiple approach you can follow but my recommendation is to:

    1. Create a Journey starting with a Static Segment > Send an Email > If/Then (condition: Email Sent) > if YES > Custom Channel (create Activity (Email sent))
    2. In order to trigger this journey, you will just need to add the contact to the Static Segment via Segmentation API when the Opportunity is created
