Can we add announcements in the Home page such as when a new employee joins, birthdays and anniversaries.
Is this function possible and if so what is the correct process to follow for this setup?

I don't think so it is possible however you can add an alert and It will show a notification.
Stay up to date on forum activity by subscribing. You can also customize your in-app and email Notification settings across all subscriptions.
