I have some fixed assets which need to be transferred from one company to another and was wondering what the easiest way to do this is? Also, if it is possible to tansfer the assets will the subledger history information be migrated?

    Hi

I was wondering whether you could share how you handled this.

    Thanks

    Hi DDreimiller,

I'm not really sure what you want to do or what your setup looks like, but I'll give it a shot anyway.

I believe the easiest way to go about your problem would be doing a Disposal-Sale of the fixed asset in Company A and then "recreating" the asset in the Company B either manually or by adding the Fixed Asset number on the PO or Vendor Invoice and then Posting the PO or Vendor Invoice in Company B.

(Note: I'm making the assumption the Companies are not sharing a Chart of Accounts and are two different legal entities.)

If you only want to transfer to another Department or Cost Centre, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 allows for the feature in the Fixed Assets form.

    Hi Brendon,

Does AX 2009 allow transfer of fixed asset to another department? Is it through Fixed Asset Journal? If Fixed Assets form, how?

    Pls advise. Thanks

    Hi Lai Mun Loo,

As far as I know, there is no FA Transfer Journal.

AX 2009 actually has a feature called Fixed Asset Transfer.  I'm not entirely sure if it is standard functionality tho.

If you have your departments defined as Financial Dimensions, you can then change the financial dimension on the Fixed asset to the location you want to transfer to.

    Regards
