Hi,

I am working on AX 2012 R3. The Kernel version is 6.3.164.0 and Application version: 6.3.4000.123.

Could you please let me know how to upgrade Kernel version as per Application version?

Thanks,

Hari

    Hi Hari,

The version numbers are indeed not equal which is OK. You can upgrade the kernel without upgrading the application. Or you can install a hotfix without a kernel.

The only thing you have to take care of, is having all kernel versions on the servers and clients the same.

I ggree with Andre, but allso your kernel version should be equal or newer than your application.

    I completely agree with André.

It is normal to have kernel number higher than application version. NOT vice-versa. It is best to keep kernel to latest version on AOS as well as on clients. Or else you will see many issues in general. Updated kernel can be downloaded from Next URL for Dynamics AX.

Thanks for your replies. I wanted to use SQL Server 2016 and Visual Studio 2013. I thought if i update the kernel, it will resolve my issue. Is it right?

I already discussed in separate thread community.dynamics.com/.../272380.

Update to SQL 2016 is a separate subject. About Visual studio update, if you want to use 2013, you need to be minimum on R3-CU8 (App version). Does not matter kernel discussion for that, as long as it is equal or greater than APP version. As mentioned in on of the threads this morning, there is issue with reporting services of AX, while you use SQL 2016. Not trying to discourage you, as solution to bug is there already.

Thanks you all for your help. I have upgraded to latest kernel. It is working fine.

FYI: I tried to use VS 2013 Ultimate Update 5 but not supported to install, So, I have installed VS 2013 Professional Update 5.
