Item stock count entry not processing

(0) ShareShare

I enter an item stock count schedule. I then go to item stock count entry, enter in the quantities and make sure the verify box is checked. I click on Process and all appears normal. However, no IV batches appear to be posted and no quantities change. What could be causing this behavior?

    HI Richard,

have you checked the Inventory posting setup ? what about the batch activity table ? in last resort I'd run a DEXSQL trace to find out what's going on after you press the post button.

Beat, the status just stays "Entered" If I run this script and click Process it will then create the batch

    declare @stockcountID char(20)

set @stockcountID = 'CLRQTYS' -- replace for the actual stock count you created

    update IV10300 set ATPSTVRNC = 1 where stckcntid = @stockcountID

    update IV10301 set VERIFIED = 1 where stckcntid = @stockcountID

I tried to post a stock-count schedule in Fabrikam and nothing happens too.. no batch gets created.

I made sure the Autopost feature isn't select, which technically should create an Inventory Adjustment Batch to post..

What baffles me from the DEXSQL trace is that the batch gets created, but it gets also DELETED..

Then GP adds in the batch all the items to be adjusted.. but at the end it does something weird, maybe because I got an error report on screen regarding serializations which would prevent the items to be posted..

And my Stock Count schedule is still there for corrections / updates. Which means maybe you do have one item that prevents the whole adjustment to actually get posted. You'll have to fix that first..

PS: somehow pasting DEXSQL trace lines here doesn't work anymore.. I'm getting error when trying to save the response

I am using GP 18.2.1036. Perhaps we have stumbled upon a bug?

I've multiple version of GP installed, let me do some checking in the 2016, 2018R2 & 18.2 instances

    Richard,

I just tested my GP 18.2.1005 and it works as expected. I created a Stock Count Schedule with a single (non-serialized) item and processed it.

It did create the INV batch for later posting (as I  hadn't checked the autopost). Result of the stock count process report :

So this worked as it is supposed to

Beat, I just tried this on another GP instance running 18.2.1036 and it works as designed. I am going to need dig into the differences with this one instance where it does not work. I have had numerous issues with inventory for these folks. Both IV and PR were not set up properly and have spent the last 6 months troubleshooting one issue after another.

    That was my feeling too..

Something in the Item setup prevents your SC to process properly. Does GP not provide any hints on the reports ?

Beat, I think I found was happening here. When I was creating the stock count schedule I was using an item that was spread out over 5 locations. It turns out that one of these locations had a quantity of zero. This lead to the exception report listing this location. Now if I only specified the four locations that had quantities, the exception report came up but stated there were no exceptions and the batch appeared as it should. So apparently you can only do a stock count for an item/site that has a quantity.
