    Hi Ventsislav,

There is an inventory Parameter "lock items during Count" available.

Have you used activated that one?

Yes, I did. I suppose this parameter 'reads' info from warehouse items table, which is populated when inserting item in counting journal. But in WHS module in R3 we do not create counting journal, but cycle counting works.

So, I believe the "lock items during Count" refers only to the legacy WMS module.

To lock an item for inventory transactions you need to have the "Lock items during count" (Inventory Managment > Setup > Inventory Managment Parameters | General > Count) and trigger the counting journal with the item. That will activate the checkbox you find under:
Products Information Magement > Common > Released products | Manage Inventory > Warehouse > Warehouse Items | Default > Counting status > Counting started

It will lock the item for the specific inventory combination listed in the Warehouse Item table.

Yes. The benefit of cyclic counting is that you don't need to lock your inventory since it is counting at a spot pr. item and non periodically.

So if you do want to lock it, you need to create a counting journal for the item anyway and then run the counting. I'm not sure if that will work with cyclic counting on the WHS as it might lock the item to even be counted that way. But I suggest you give it a try. :)

OK, but this does not lock items for WHS process. I did the following test:

I create a counting journal for Warehouse A (not whs enabled). As I don't use the legacy WMS module, i don't have warehouse items specified, so AX block the item in all warehouses.

Then I create sales order in Warehouse B, which is whs enabled. I process the SO without any problems, AX does not stop me at any step.

Well... It is periodical, but not in the big way that a full warehouse count is done. :)

Yes. Because the Warehouse Items would then only be locked for Warehouse A. You need to lock it for Warehouse B to be able to stop it there as well.

Try just activating the "Counting Started" on Warehouse B manually.

    Thanks, Fredrik

My customer wants to lock the warehouse and make a full count, but using the WHS functionality (create works and execute them with the mobile devices).

You suggestion is good, but I don't have warehouse items. I will test it with several items, but I suppose it will still not stop me :) Will write later.
