How to deploy build server for D365 FO using existing source branch in repos file

Hi All,

How could i deploy build server for D365 FO using existing source branch in repos file so it will not create a new folder in repos? as i'm not really experience in this setup using existing source branch

Here's the example of the existing file in repos, i want to set the new build envy directly to Release-branch

Thanks & Regards,

Masha

I have the same question (0)

Which branch will be used is defined in mapping of the build pipeline in Azure DevOps. It's not a property of a build server itself. A single build server can be used by multiple build definitions for different branches.

    Hi Martin,

If i want to use the exisitng Release-branch could i just need to fill the branch name with my exists branch name and exists pool agent in the deployment settings here

    Thanks & Regards,

Yes, you can set the default value here. But as I mentioned, you can always change the value in Azure DevOps or create asdditional definitions for other branches.

As I said, this is not a property of the build server. This default value is used for creating the default build definition in Azure DevOps.

    Hi Martin,

I've tried to deploy the new build VM and build the pipeline but got the errors in database sync step.

##[error]SYNCENGINE(0,0): Error Number: 208,State:1,Class:16' on category 'Warning'.
SYNCENGINE : error Number: 208,State:1,Class:16' on category 'Warning'. [C:\DynamicsSDK\Metadata\SyncEngine.proj]
##[error]SYNCENGINE(0,0): Error Number: 208,State:1,Class:16' on category 'Warning'.
SYNCENGINE : error Number: 208,State:1,Class:16' on category 'Warning'. [C:\DynamicsSDK\Metadata\SyncEngine.proj]
##[error]SYNCENGINE(0,0): Error Number: 208,State:1,Class:16' on category 'Warning'.
SYNCENGINE : error Number: 208,State:1,Class:16' on category 'Warning'. [C:\DynamicsSDK\Metadata\SyncEngine.proj]
##[error]SYNCENGINE(0,0): Error Number: 208,State:1,Class:16' on category 'Warning'.
SYNCENGINE : error Number: 208,State:1,Class:16' on category 'Warning'. [C:\DynamicsSDK\Metadata\SyncEngine.proj]

SYNCENGINE : error Number: 208,State:1,Class:16' on category 'Warning'. [C:\DynamicsSDK\Metadata\SyncEngine.proj]

Could i missed the configuration after deployed the build VM?

    Thanks & Regards,

    Masha

If the server now builds the branch that you want to, the server&pipeline config seems ok.

Can you find any better logs about what fails in the sync? Anyway most likely these errors are not related to your original question. But let's see the logs first before deciding that.

Could you try to take a fresh dev system, copy database from your build system, get latest, and do build & sync? Does it fail? This way we can verify whether this issue has anything to do with the build pipeline.

    Thanks!

    Hi Nikolaos,

I tried to build & sync the copy of build DB without errors.

I found this thread, but don't know what is the impact to the application if i change that variable

    Hi Nikolaos,

I got the information from microsoft that this issue will be fixed in the next PU update (PU41) or PU40 with quality update 7.0.5860.35702

Thank you for your attention upon this case

    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi Masha,

good to know. So the pipeline is ok and the issue is in the D365 version on the build server.

If your original question is not solved, could you mark the helpful answer(s) as verified? Thanks!
