GP Notes Window Will Not Open

Hi everyone,

I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this problem.  We are having a problem opening up the Notes window to put a note on a GL account in GP 2010.  The notes worked fine a couple of days ago, but now it is not.  We are using Windows 7 operating system.  When we scroll over the open windows along the toolbar at the bottom of the user screen, it shows that the Notes window is open.  However, we cannot actually pull it up on the screen to use it.  Any advice would be helpful.

Thank you.

Try right click on the Taskbar and click on "Cascade Windows" and see if that makes the Notes window visible.

We have had this problem before in Citrix for users with dual monitors.  Click on the notes button.  Press <Alt>+<Spacebar> and then <X>.  This will maximize the window, than you can resize and move it around.  Dynamics GP remebers (badly, occasionally) the previous position, even if it is off-screen.

Tim's answer resolved this issue for one of my customers.  Resizing the window and moving to the left of the screen allowed the window to be view when opening again.

If the key strokes do not work, you can also edit the dex.ini file to get the "default" position of the Notes window reset.

    Hi All!

Adding to the [Alt] + [Space Bar] solution, which worked for me, I would like to add the following:

    • Press over the Notes icon. Nothing should happen except that the Notes window opened out your sight.
    • Press [Alt] + [Space Bar]. This should "wake up" a small Menu with the Move option listed.
    • Select Move with your mouse and your mouse pointer should change to a "four direction pointer".
    • Using the arrow keys from your keyboard, start pressing the Up Arrow until you see part of the Notes window. You may need to use other arrows keys as well.
    • Once you have part of the Notes window visible, press your [Enter] key to end the Move operation.
    • Finally, drag the window to desired position

    Regards!

    Hi all

    This article explains the issue

    winthropdc.wordpress.com/.../

If you have GP Power Tools, it has a feature (which is on by default) which will ensure that a window NEVER opens off screen. It automatically moves windows back to the visible desktop.
