Unable to open orders in smartlist

I'm new to Dynamics. Been working as a Salesforce Administrator, so bear with me. I am unable to double-click to view any of the records within "sales transactions" in the Smartlist window. None of the information will show up when double-clicked. I just started this job yesterday and Microsoft has me jump through some hoops so I thought I would ask the community if there's any reason for this or something I might be doing wrong. I have GP 8.0 (I know it's old) and any advice you can give me is good advice at this point. I was directed to open the smartlist builder but I see nothing like that under tools.

    Thank you for your reply. It took us a while but we figured out that it was simply the permissions I was given as a new user. Since then we have given me full access and I'm now able to work on it. So yes you were right to look as SA, it's exactly what I needed. Now I feel a little silly because I would've caught this if I had been in a SF org. ::shakes head:: time to do better!

    Hello Megan,

    While I don't have a Great Plains 8.0 environment I can look on, if I go into SmartList and click on the Sales Transaction report which shows data in the SmartList window, if I then double-click on one of the records displayed, it opens it up in the Sales Transaction Entry window that then launches.

    Based on what you're mentioning, it sounds like you're trying to do the same thing, but nothing is launching for you, i.e. the Sales Trx Entry or an inquiry window of some type. Is this correct?

    If you login as the 'sa' login, does it make any difference to what you're seeing, or is the behavior the same?

    I don't know if many will still have an 8.0 environment still lying around to look at, but the underlying functionality should be about the same in newer versions as well.

    Sales Transaction Inquiry Zoom window does appear
     Sales Transaction 
    Inquiry Zoom window does appear when I double click inside smartlist. some other items with pop up, like invoices, 
    but for a specific list of data like a list in Sales Transactions, will not appear when I double-click on the record.
    Is there anyway to implement a work around or just to make the zoom window appear. I am working with GP 8.0 so any
    assistencce is greatly appriciated.
