backups to Azure storage account - no file

Posted on by 10
Hello,

I'm trying to do a database backup to an Azure storage account - I go thru the process, enter the URI and container name. The container is being created successfully (so no issue with the permissions etc) but the bacpac file never appears.

Any ideas?

Hiya - please create the container yourself first within the storage account - and check it meets the rules- then trigger the export from the admin portal

The one that's suggested is not valid!

    Hope this helps

    Kind regards

    further update...

created another storage account in a new resource group and use a new SAS blob URI - same again, Dynamics export creates the container, but doesn't put any file in there.

update  on trying with an already existing container

As i suspected, not difference. The backup is in the backup log and I now have 7 backup attempts left for the month but no file in the storage container in Azure.

Why does this have to be so difficult? 🤬🤬🤬

    Hi,

thanks for the response and link YUN ZHU (no idea why i can't reply to your comment). I did all of that and everything worked as expected except the file never gets into the container.

The backup process creates the container, so my assumption from that is that the set-up in Azure is correct (because using the storage account URI/URL for permissions in the Dynamics backup has allowed the Dynamics backup to access the storage account and create a container, it just never puts the file into the container.

I'm just about to test it with an already existing container to see if that makes a difference. Trouble is, the more testing I do, the less possible backups I have (limited to 10 per month) and i don't want to break that limit before I actually get a backup as I'm trying to delete and close this instance of Dynamics and don't really want to pay for another months' licence.

DB exports history also shows the twice I've tried.

Hi, It looks like a setup issue in Azure, I hope the information below can give you some tips.

    Thanks.
